Bassnectar

Bassnectar (real name Lorin Ashton) is a freeform electronic music and dubstep artist as well as being a DJ and producer based in Santa Cruz, California. Bassnectar is known for his live performances and light shows like the one coming to Roy Wilkins Auditorium on September 30th.

Bassnectar has 8 well-known albums, with his first being released back in 2001. Bassnectar's most recent album is titled Divergent Spectrum and features songs such as "Upside Down," "After Thought," and "Voodoo."

Many of Bassnectar's songs contain multiple techniques of composition, such as a sudden shift from double to triple meter, a quick drop into half-timings and multiple layers of musical characteristics! Bassnectar uses a broad spectrum of speeds in his electronic genres to create what he calls, "omni-tempo maximalism."
