Andre Rieu

Andre Rieu is a Dutch violinist, conductor, and composer best known for creating the waltz-playing Johann Strauss Orchestra. Andre Rieu plays a 1667 Stradivarius violin.

Rieu formed the Maastricht Salon Orchestra and performed as a violinist with the Limburg Symphony Orchestra. In 1987, Andre Rieu created the Johann Strauss Orchestra and his own production company. Since then, Rieu's melodramatic stage performances and rock-star demeanor have often been dubbed the source of the revival of the waltz music genre.

Andre Rieu most recently released albums include: Forever Vienna (2009), You Raise Me Up (2010), Moonlight Serenade (2011).
