Maroon 5

Xcel Energy Center is pleased to announce that Maroon 5 with special guest The Hives will be live at Xcel Energy Center on Monday, October 1st at 7:30 p.m. This will be Maroon 5's third visit to Xcel Energy Center, second time as headliner. The band's two previous stops were on April 23, 2005 and April 30, 2003.

Maroon 5 is a soul-influenced rock band from Los Angeles, California comprising of five members: Adam Levine as lead vocals and guitar, James Valentine as back-up vocals and guitar,  Jesse Carmichael on keyboard, Mickey Madden on bass guitar and Matt Flynn on drums. Maroon 5 has won several awards for its debut album "Songs About Jane." Released in June 2002, "Songs About Jane" enjoyed major chart success, going gold, platinum, and triple platinum in many countries around the world. In support of their hit album Maroon 5 toured extensively throughout 2003, 2004 and 2005, in which a live album was released, entitled Live - Friday the 13th.

After a hiatus from the music scene, Maroon 5 released their second studio album, "It Won't Be Soon Before Long" in May 2007, five years after Songs About Jane. The second set debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with first week sales of nearly half a million. To support the album, the band performed on a "six-date club tour" in which they visited small venues in Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Miami, and New York City in early June 2007. Then, on July 9,  the band announced plans for their 2007 "It Won't Be Soon Before Long" world tour set to begin September 29 in Detroit and conclude November 10 in Las Vegas.

Maroon 5 is not your average boy band, but you can be sure that girls every where will be screaming for their hit song "Makes Me Wonder." The song had the largest jump to the top of the charts in the history of Billboard Hot 100 as Maroon 5 scored its first-ever chart topper.

Swedish rockers The Hives will open for Maroon 5 at the Xcel Energy Center. The band is currently working on a new album, but recently collaborated with Timbaland for "Throw It On Me," a single on his latest effort, "Timbaland Presents: Shock Value."
