On Thursday, February 24, 2011, Gaelic Storm will be performing at the Fitzgerald Theatre. Gaelic Storm is a Celtic Band and their music includes traditional Irish music, Scottish music, and original tunes in both the Celtic and Celtic rock genres. They have been performing since 1996 and are based out of Santa Monica, California. The band's members include Patrick Murphy, Steve Twigger, Ryan Lacey, Peter Purvis, and Jessie Burns.
Gaelic Storm has toured throughout the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Japan. To this date, Gaelic Storm tours aggressively, and plays over 125 dates a year. It has also put out eight albums since its inception, including the compilation album Special Reserve. The band is notable for its energetic rendering of traditional Irish music and Scottish traditional music, and for its albums which repeatedly top the Billboard world music charts.
Gaelic Storm first gained recognition when they appeared in the hit film Titanic. They were met with wild popularity and toured with great success. In 2008, Gaelic Storm released their 7th studio album titled "What's the Rumpus?". It reached #1 on the Billboard World Chart.
