The Minnesota Twins play professional baseball in the Central Division of the American League in Major League Baseball. The team, named after the Twin Cities where they are based consider Minneapolis home. The Minnesota Twins came to Minneapolis in 1961 after 60 years of playing in Washington D.C. as the Senators. The Washington Senators were one of the leagues 8 charter teams. After moving to Minneapolis the team changed its name to the Twins and began a new chapter of its life. The Twin Cities sports fans welcomed the new baseball team with lots of excitement. The new Minnesota Twins franchise met lots of success and the team moved up in both Major League Baseball Standings and local popularity. In the early 1980's the Minnesota Twins moved to the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, which would become their home for over 20 years. The Metrodome saw many of the Minnesota Twins finest moments including both World Series Titles the Twins can claim. The Minnesota Twins, HHH Metrodome relationship was a long and happy one. However, the 2010 season will mark a new chapter in Minnesota Twins History as the Twins move to their own stadium at Target Field.
